Kenya Airways is the largest airline in Kenya. It was started in 1977 and run by the Kenyan Government. Then in the early 1990′s the Government decided it would be better off by privatizing the airline. Since then various shares have been sold in Kenya Air (www.kenya-airways.com) resulting in today it being owned by a Kenyan shareholders, individual foreign shareholders, institutional shareholders, the Kenyan Government, and KLM. It has its headquarters based in Nairobi. It has a large fleet (29 aircraft) with the vast majority being Boeing and a few Embraer.
